The Alpe Adria cycle route is a 415 km cycle path that links Grado to Salzburg. It is a cross-border cooperation project for the development of sustainable mobility to create a direct link between the Central European cycle network and the Adriatic Sea. From Grado, a delightful seaside resort in the Friulan lagoon, we reach Aquileia, the ancient capital of the Roman Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the vastness of its archaeological area and the artistic value of its early Christian mosaics. We then continue towards Palmanova, the star city, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crossing the Friuli plain; from here the route goes to Udine, meeting some suggestive places like the splendid Villa Declani in Selvuzzis. The route from Grado to Udine is 59 km and is suitable for the average cyclist, reported and with some sections in promiscuity with motorized traffic, but at low intensity. The tour includes bike rental and baggage transportation service from Grado to Udine.
Shared transfer from the airport of Trieste and from the railway station of Udine to Grado (time to be defined). Check-in and dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast and meeting with the bike guide and departure for the last section of the “Alpe Adria trail” from Grado to Udine riding through antique villages to reach Aquileia. Visit of the Basilica and the Roman remains. Lunch in a typical tavern and departure to Palmanova. At the end arrival in Udine. (the 2/7 overnight stay must be booked in the hotel chosen for the stay during the Congress).
